This is my Presentation
The event idea that I have coordinated is called “Stronger Together”. It is an event to bring the athletic community together as far as women go, whether it be athletes or women who are pursuing careers in athletic roles and maybe even psychology majors who just want to see what other people are thinking. As a community women struggle with fitting in when it comes to sports and I don’t think that it should come at the cost of our mental health, but unfortunately it does. The idea of this event is to support women and normalize mental health conversations within the community. My penpal’s role in this event is how she helped shape the idea and how she helps emphasize the realism of the event. Mallory works for Manhattanville universities field hockey, athletic communications department. She advocates for athletes with mental health disorders and finds a way to connect with them in any way in her department or outside of her department. Her guidance through this semester has really made me prioritize how I analyze athletes’ mental health and why I wanna make such a change when it comes to that. Our overall goal within the success of this event is just engagement. We want to be able to build connections outside of just teammates and classmates. We want it to be a community and for women to feel free to express how they’re feeling. We are looking for attendance, but we’re also looking for feedback on how we’ve helped them open their horizon. Our execution plan would last about a month between planning and promotion, and we would market the event via Instagram and TikTok. We’d also put flyers around campus and even get athletes to tell their friends, classmates, and teammates about the event while also posting it on their social media. Thanks to Mallory I now have a more open insight on mental health advocacy and my determination to help athletes speak their mind, especially women being so pushed back when it comes to sports. I want everybody to be able to express how they’re feeling.
