In the summer of 2022, I had my first internship and experienced working for a company that is not only the most recognized globally but also predominates in the Forbes 500 list with the #1 position. Being my first experience, I was excited to put all my knowledge into practice, from the most common subjects, such as Public Speaking 101R to Operation Management 303. From the moment of my interview, I could identify strategies that helped me answer each question appropriately and even express myself professionally. Even though it was only the first phase of the recruitment, it seemed essential to me to point out that each of the classes taken previously helped me observe and apply my knowledge in those moments. At the end of the first step and entering the first day of work at Walmart in one of its distribution centers in Virginia, they gave me my project in which I had to analyze, execute and look for appropriate solutions both to their present situations and how it would affect a future case, if they need to do internal movements and that this does not cause problems. Then, it was exciting to understand, identify and compare the material given by the company with what I learned in the university in all the subjects seen from my first year to the ones I took that Summer of 2022.
I recently discovered they were still implementing my parking system in the staging area, as you can see in my final presentation in the documentation section, and offered me a job at Walmart. In conclusion, this last year, I have continued to learn from the best professors with classes full of knowledge and experiences that are intellectually enriching to continue putting into practice in my future work and professional areas.

There are two essential Skills that Employers are Seeking’ related to this experience:
Make decisions and solve problems |
This ability was a challenge to make decisions, observe the problem and come to a conclusion because I had different factors that even contributed to the malfunctioning of his area. At the same time, having few resources to obtain the best result was a way of challenging myself and applying the knowledge I had learned during those three years of university. |
Work in a team structure |
I was learning this skill from the first day I had my first class; working in a team at the university takes learning to know the basic skills of guiding and being a leader within a group of people with different cultures. Therefore, having worked in a distribution center, I could apply everything I had learned and the techniques and theories. |
This experience is related to real life. I learned to put everything I learned in each class in this internship. At the same time, I understood how to manage a team of more than 20 people and even be able to express myself verbally in front of the executives. I learned how to make a decision based on what I found and how to implement new strategies. This will help me in my future work to implement the positives and negatives that I learned and give me a clearer perspective of what it is like to operate in a work environment outside of the university experience.
