(E)ntrepreneurship

One of the classes I took in the Entrepreneurship category was MAE 435. This was definitely one of my favorite classes because it is where I started working on the final project for my mechanical engineering degree. In this course, teams of 4 to 5 students are assigned to complete a design project that can cover a variety of topics, such as engineering economics, project planning, cost and risk analysis, and product realization methodologies. All of these topics are covered in the MAE 435 class, which also requires us to complete written and oral presentations with our group, depending on the specific project we choose at the beginning of the semester. As future engineers, one of the main goals of this course is to enhance our leadership, teamwork, communication, judgment, accountability, and tolerance for different viewpoints. Without strong leadership, the project would not stay on track, which is why this class is included in the program. When it comes to project design, it is more complicated than simply creating and presenting a drawing. To fulfill the standards of ethics and patents, we are required to consider Gantt charts, evaluation and marketing matrices, full design and analysis, oral and technical reports that include cost analysis, and preliminary design.
