Lieutenant Commander Terrance Green
BLUF: Lieutenant Commander Terrance Green came to our CYSE 200T
class to speak with us.
Overview
Lieutenant Commander Terrance Green came to our CYSE 200T class to
speak to us. He is the current Executive Officer at the Information Warfare
Training Command in Virginia Beach.
Points of interest
The first thing I took away from is that the most important skill that you
need to succeed is communication and good teamwork. Communication is
essential for the workplace and is essential to getting work done quickly.
The second point of interest he talked about is the importance of data. He
talked about how not just in his field, but in almost every field, everything
begins with data. One thing he said specifically about it is “While different
teams have different goals and final products; they all begin with the exact
same thing in the beginning and that’s data.”
The final thing that he said and what I think is the most important is he said
to stay curious. He talked about the importance of staying curious and
wanting to continuously learn and expand your knowledge and
understanding on a variety of topics. He also said that having variety and
diversity is important because in the digital age that we live in, the
environment is constantly changing and evolving and that we need to be
prepared to pivot and change directions in a moment’s notice.
Conclusion
Conclusion: I found what Lieutenant Commander Green had to say was very
insightful. I also thought that the information and advice that he gave us
would be very helpful down the line in any cyber related field.
