ODU’s Perry Library

For library visit #2, I was excited to visit Old Dominion’s library- one I spent many many hours in during my undergrad and graduate school. I loved going back onto campus after 7 years and seeing how much has changed! Click this link to explore the exterior of Perry Library on the Old Dominion campus in Norfolk, Virginia! Go Monarchs!

Allison, beautiful job! It was great to see Perry again. I haven’t been there in 14 years, which makes me feel very old, haha.

Allison I always love looking at your presentations. They are always so pleasing to the eye and easy to follow. I have never been to the Perry Library but your pictures made me want to go. Great job!

Thank you! I wish we could have explored the inside. Perry Library was renovated while I was a student at ODU for my undergrad and I would have loved to show off the inside!

    Allison,

Thanks for choosing to create a presentation on Perry Library. Although I live close by in Virginia Beach, I have never been to the physical library at ODU. It’s nice to get to see it and learn about it through your presentation!

    Allison,
Great presentation! I like all the outdoor seating that library offers.

This may be weird, but I love that their mask sign lets people know there are some available if you forgot. It’s such a sign of the times we’re in that I hadn’t thought of this before, but this makes me realize that mask signs could be seen as unwelcoming to some (there’s a whole can of worms related to that, but I won’t go there). I love that it means people aren’t barred access just because they might be forgetful.

    Allison-

Nice pictures of Perry Library. I visited campus for the first time this summer and liked how bright the building is with those windows. That “tower” in the center reminds me of a watchtower, or possibly a lighthouse. The lighthouse image is kind of a neat one for a library, especially in a community near a beach.

I went to college in a decidedly land-locked college in Washington state, and Perry reminds me of our library. I’m guessing ours was remodeled at a similar time as when Perry was built.

Great presentation! I like that you gave the option to either read it or listen!

I love your presentation! It makes me wish that I had been an on-campus student rather than a distance learning student. I visited campus briefly when I graduated with my BS degree in 2014. I was there on a weekend at the end of a semester, so I didn’t visit many places. Before I finish my MLIS I will have to visit Perry! Thank you so much for sharing this!
