I enjoyed virtually “visiting” Brooklyn Public Library and learning all that it had to offer for its patrons. The website was appealing, and even more impressive was the amount of richly diverse classes and programs that it offers. Check out this fantastic library through my presentation!

I love that they can check out the Culture Pass to various attractions in the area. What a great idea to give people access to the community around them.

How smart that the library put homeschooling resources online during the pandemic. And it sounds like they increased contact with teachers and students during that time, too. It seems like they had some great plans they were able to execute during the lockdown. What a great resource for the community, and the virtual community, as well.

Allison, I really enjoyed your presentation on the Brooklyn Public Library. I liked how you highlighted what you found especially interesting on each slide inside a text box! It reminded me of VH1’s pop up videos!

I wish my local library had thought to reach out to teachers while schools were shut down to remind us of the resources they provide! That would have been so helpful! The fact that BPL has books in 39 languages is quite impressive. The “Never too late to learn” techology sessions are a great idea, especially when I think back to how many times my parents ask how to do something related to technology. I agree with you about how wonderful the Culture Pass is to give students access to all of the fabulous muesum and other cultural attractions available in New York! The building is also stunning too! It makes me want to check it out the next time I am there.

Wow, there are so many cool things about this library! They can translate their telephone services in over 150 languages? That’s honestly impressive. I wonder if this includes super obscure languages, or even dead ones. I also find the Culture Pass idea interesting. It’s sort of a way to connect literature, opera, botany, music, and museums all together, alongside many other things, and it really allows one to access a lot of the city from the library. Also, I’m glad they have immigrant services, that will certainly make it easier for that unjustly targeted demographic.

I love your presentation! I really want to visit this library! The huge number of different types of materials that patrons can find at the library is amazing! I love that there’s such an attention to diversity, both in the fact that there are 39 different languages available AND there’s Braille, too! It’s obvious that the powers that be at this library are interested in serving as many people as possible.

The Culture Pass is awesome! I think that’s a great way to expose kids to the culture available in New York. And by visiting the museums and other cultural centers, they may discover new interests and new things to read about!

Your pull out comments are a great way to provide commentary throughout your presentation. I agree with Alexandra; it is like Pop Up Video!
