I found this image using the website Unsplash and I really loved it. To me, it looks like a robin’s egg on a pile of dead leaves. New and beautiful life on a pile of dead and sad things. The title is white mushroom on brown dried leaves, but I’m sticking with the robin’s egg. It has been a tough year at school, even being in-person all year. I have been on a cart until a few weeks ago and student check-out has been stressful. This image shows beauty in a time of difficulty and I love it. I think getting students to connect Creative Common pictures to a poem or short passage of their choice would be really powerful. Copyright is not my strongest thing as a librarian, but I’m excited to get students to use more CC pictures in future assignments.
I like the idea of getting students to connect images to poetry. I think sometimes it’s easier for students (and me) to explain what a poem’s meaning is through a picture rather than in your own words.
