Video fun for everyone!

The funny thing to me is that most of the video content we are learning about would have been foreign to most of us two years ago. With school shut-downs, virtual teacher and Covid concerns, many of us have tried at least some of these tools.

Many people joke that they wish they bought stock in Zoom prior to March of 2020. I know that I used it for more meetings I could count last year and this whole school year. As a school librarian, I met with classes last year to read them stories and do activities. Thankfully, we were face-to-face all year and I didn’t have to teach through it. Zooming meetings is a positive change that came from such a tough time.

I have enjoyed using Animoto for many years and it is one of the only paid accounts that I keep. I have used it for many kick-offs of Reading Olympics and Battle of the Books at my school. It is easy to add pictures of students, book covers and minimal text and the outcome always looks great! I have had students make animal animotos to share with their classmates.

I have never used Wideo before and thought it was a very interesting tool! I played around with this resource and loved that there are many scene templates. I think my students would love using this to share any research that they had completed. My fourth graders usually do presentations on famous folks, as there are so many to learn in VA Studies. I think they would love highlighting that person (or event) by using Wideo. The backgrounds, pictures and templates make it such an accessible tool for all levels of students.

I also loved what Animoto offered even in just the free version. What more do you get with the paid account that you find to be worth the price?

Thanks for sharing the different ways that you have used Animoto. What features of the paid account do you use frequently?

How true! I would’ve never used Zoom or Loom or really any of these video options if not for COVID!
