As a librarian, it is important to plan numerous programs throughout the year to promote the library, literacy, provide professional growth and encourage family connectivity. Some programs are planned for students during the school day for small groups or maybe even after school. Book clubs for specific age groups or grades are always fun to promote literacy. Family reading nights to give families a chance to connect by reading stories together based around a theme. Programs are also planned to provide instructional assistance to the teachers in our buildings as needed.

Each year, I plan a week long book fair to help my students build their home libraries but I also open this event up to the community to promote literacy. The picture to the left is of the book fair that I recently completed in early March. In my library, this is the only source of funding that I have outside of grants or donations from outside sources.
A professional development program that we put together to teach our colleagues is attached below. It helped them learn how to use Flipgrid in their classrooms. Providing technology support and new ideas is an important task of a librarian.
