For this assignment I paired a non-fiction and fiction children’s picture book to introduce children to whole language lessons centered around bears. Any teacher or librarian is able to use this guide. A synopsis of both books, along with other book suggestions, aids the instructor in his decision to use this guide. After studying the appropriate grade level SOL’s, I chose several which matched well with the books. Included in the guide are pre-reading, bulletin board, and activity ideas as well as linked websites of high quality and interest to children. Additional resources for both the teacher and the child are included in the guide.
