I jumped right in with Canva, since that’s the program I’m most familiar with. I think it’s intuitive, and it’s been around long enough that most of my students are familiar with it. I like the feature that help to line up the text boxes/ images. It’s much easier than trying to eyeball it on some of the other suggested sites. The only thing I became frustrated with is that most of the images I wanted to use were premium. I can see some of my students shutting down after a while because the perfect image isn’t readily available for use. On the other hand, it’s good practice using search terms and being very intentional about which images to use.
I chose a blue background with white font to make it easy to see. I had to change some of my images because they had a white background around them, and it made my infographic overly complicated. I tried to keep it simple, though there are still changes I’d make to this infographic if I were to use it as an example for my students. Primarily, I’d try to shorten the wording. I’d also adjust the text boxes so the words were all on one line.
When I’ve taught English, I’ve had my kids do a “Top 10” essay, like what Dave Letterman used to do. Since I moved this week, I quickly made a list of reasons why moving is the worst. I shortened mine to only five because ten got far too cluttered on the page. It would be interesting for kids to take their Top 10 essay and turn it into an infographic. Instead of doing oral presentations, students could do an infographic gallery walk to see their classmates’ work.

I love this!!!! This is why I’m never moving! lol
I used Canva for my infographic and found it to be very user friendly! I love how intuitive it is!
I love infographic lists!! I like the simplicity and ease of viewing your infographic. It would make a nice poster. I think you really followed some of the key points in Reynolds’ book when creating this infographic.
The more Canva infographic posts I read, the more I want to give it another shot. I think I may have just been too ambitious with what I wanted to do with my first infographic and I need to work my way up to the challenging ones, haha. I did like that they offered the lines to help line images and texts up evenly. That is a feature I love of Google Slides, and my students are used to seeing those when they create slides. That may help them as they use Canva.
Hello, I really like the simplicity of your infographic! This was my first time using Canva.com, I really enjoyed how easy it was to create something new using the different templates that were provided. The only critique I would give is to watch that bottom edge, just in case you wanted to print this out in the future! Great job! 🙂
I am currently in the process of moving/remodeling and I completely agree with this!! I also really like using Canva and used it for my infographic.
