I actually became overwhelmed with all of the different tools to create infographics, and I definitely struggled with what content to use to create an original infographic. However, infographics are so great at condensing and simplifying information that now that I now how to make them, I think I’ll use them more frequently than traditional slideshows to instruct. I’ve also noticed that over the past few years, my students have really lost the ability to create posters. They tend to be really sloppy and poorly thought out, but I think that students’s thinking and skill sets have shifted. I would actually prefer to assign them infographics than posters, and I think they’d be more successful while still requiring a high level of information synthesis and creativity.
I agree that infographics may be a better tool than posters. I know that when I was a student, I loved making posters because I was artistic. I can see, however, that people who have trouble drawing would not like to create them.
