Part one
Esports has become a rapidly growing industry, with a massive fan base worldwide. With universities acknowledging the potential of esports, many of them have started Esports programs to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their skills and earn scholarships. Old Dominion University is one such university that has established an Esports program.
As part of a group project, we were tasked with conducting a survey to gather information about ODU students’ awareness of the university’s Esports program. Our primary objective was to understand the level of awareness of the program and its reach among students.
The survey was conducted online, and we received responses from diverse students. We asked questions about students’ familiarity with the Esports program, the types of games they play, and their interest in participating in the program.
The results of the survey were interesting. We found that while some students were aware of the Esports program, the majority were not. This highlights the need for the university to promote the program more effectively. Doing this part of the project helped show me how important it is on the research and analysis part when it comes to marketing and advertising.
Part two
TikTok is a social media platform that has exploded in popularity over the past few years. With over a billion active users, TikTok has become a powerhouse for marketing and promotion, making it an ideal platform to promote esports.
Creating TikToks for our esports 2nd part of the project was the best idea we came up with. These videos are perfect for capturing attention and engaging viewers with fun and creative content. With the right approach, TikToks can go viral and reach millions of people in a matter of days.
We spent time researching popular trends and hashtags related to esports, and then incorporated them into your TikToks to reach the right audience. By using music and sound effects, your group likely created videos that were entertaining, engaging and shared across multiple social media platforms.
One of the benefits of using TikTok to promote esports is that it allows you to showcase the excitement and energy of competitive gaming. With the right visuals and effects, your group was able to highlight the intensity and skill required to succeed in esports, while also highlighting the fun and social aspects of gaming. Making TikToks is also a fun thing to do and my group really enjoyed it.
