Communicating

As an aspiring professional and college student, I have had many opportunities to strengthen my communication skills, perhaps one of the best opportunities was during my time in the COVA CCI Cyber Clinic, where I was able to present various projects alongside my teammates.

Programming

I have been able to practice my skills in programming throughout several classes, starting in high school. I have experience in python, java, and html languages. Furthermore, I was able to train and evaluate machine learning models as seen in the example above.

Filing

During my work experience in the Student Engagement and Traditions Office, we collectively worked on a filing project which involved the reorganization, scanning, and shredding of old records. I took it upon myself to create a tracking document to record progress.

Problem Solving

In many situations in and out of the classroom, I have been presented with opportunities to problem solve. Perhaps most frequently is during my time as a front desk receptionist for Webb Center. In this role, we receive many phone calls from students, parents, and other patrons of the university who need assistance. We are expected to analyze their situation, understand what they need and direct them to the correct office. Problem solving can be key to this role, especially when it may be unclear who’s help the individual needs.

Analyzing

Strategy-and-Policy-paper-2

In a class setting, I was tasked with analyzing a selected cybersecurity policy from an ethical, political, and social perspective. These exercises strengthened my analysis skills and offered deeper insight into the selected policy to be researched.

Through my participation in the COVA CCI Cyber Clinic I gained valuable hands-on experience and strengthened my skills in risk assessment with the company CM Technology.

Instructing

At the end of my high school career, I had the opportunity to volunteer in a 4th grade classroom. I participated in group exercises, helping strengthen math skills and assist students in understanding the material.

Customer Service

I have several years of customer service experience in different settings. I have worked in food service, waited tables and provided reception and help line customer service. This is a honed skill of mine that I have spent many years working to improve.
