Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.
The first ethical issue I believe is privacy. I think maintaining privacy is the biggest challenge that any business has when storing the data of the customers or clients they have. The data should be only accessible to others that the user chooses to give authorization too. If the data is shared, it should be conveyed using proper encryption to be secure while in transit.
The second ethical issue that I see is data breaches. Electronic information is constantly at risk of data breaches due to the various kinds of data and the ways in which they can be taken. These are only possible when the electronic data is available to third parties without the knowledge or permission of the user, without identifying the unauthorized person. The use of Two factor authentication like using a password and then being sent a pin number can help avoid data breaches.
The third ethical issue that I see is the challenges that come with system implementation. There are many issues that can arise such as using an ineffective system, or not having enough resources to ensure that the storage of users data is secure. For systems to be used correctly they need to have a good workflow of components and services, with the resources required. This should be done with the storage platform or cloud data base being big enough, with the whole system being considered.
My fourth and final ethical issue that I see is Data integrity. Data integrity issues happen because of inaccurate electronic information about users that are saved into the system. Data integrity effect the quality of the users time on the system, and can effect their personal life if their data is sent and or received by the wrong person. Data should be managed precisely so that the are no inaccuracies or errors within the system.
