Technology and the cyber world and infrastructure is always changing. There is no such thing as being prepared and ready to defend any cyber crime that occurs; at least you cannot be fully prepared for every crime. Everyday there is new technology being made. Hackers are also developing new skills to try and make their way into private or “secure” networks that companies have. They create new ways to enter into these company’s networks to steal information. That is why, instead of thinking ahead and thinking you have all the tools necessary at your disposal will not work. It needs to be taken day by day. Companies should have white hat hackers so they can identify the vulnerabilities within their systems to prevent such things from happening again. I think the correct approach would be for the white hat hackers in the company to update the network the company uses everyday and make sure it is up to date. Then I think they should search the network to see if there are any vulnerabilities within it. It can only be taken day by day and step by step when dealing with a “short arm” of knowledge. When dealing with a short arm of knowledge, it is important to gather all the information you can in order to identify what you are dealing with. I am not saying that you should just wait until a cyber incident occurs to deal with an issue. You should always be prepared for potential cyber crimes and have an idea of how you will resolve the issue and what you can do to prevent it. So these white hat hackers or anyone who wants to prevent these cyber crimes from happening should always be prepared for the worst and be ready to correct the issue.
