Exploring Culture

In Spanish 1, I began to understand the cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries. All from normal greetings to others to who got the most respect while being addressed. I thought it was the beginning of me understanding how deep and rich other cultures run. After taking my first Spanish class, I really began to love the differences in every culture.

Engaging in Communities

There is so much importance in engaging in the community around you. The surrounding world can give so much perspective into different people, cultures, and places. I find that volunteering and being with others from a different background then you helps me grow as an individual.

Interpersonal Communication

Throughout Spanish 1, I completed a few discussion boards and audio activities on our activity sight. I felt these really helped understand the inner working of the Spanish language.

Presentational Speaking

I had some activities over Zoom where I presented with a partner from my class. As I do not want to put my partners face on a website they did not approve of, I will attach the video. Although conversing in another language is extremely hard, I find out it a little easier since there was not much pressure on us. 

Presentational Writing

I completed many different articles of reading throughout Spanish 1. They were all extremely well-written and interesting.

Interpretive Listening

Listening was probably the biggest part of Spanish 1. All the activities included listening and when conversing you have to listen to other person speak. So, listening is a huge part of learning the Spanish language that I feel is often overlooked.

Interpretive Reading

Reading in another language is very difficult. However, when I have context clues, it makes the process so much easier.

The entire process of Spanish 1 was extremely hard for me. I faced many difficulties because I was learning a whole new language. I do think I was provided a good base to continue learning the Spanish language.
