The article explains how implementing social science studies can help with cybersecurity majors as students can get a better a understanding of why crimes are being committed which will then help develop a strategy plan of catching criminals before they act which could definitely help against cyber threats as it helps with public and cyber safety. This relates to the principals of the social sciences because it acknowledges that criminal behavior is linked to social science. Not only does this article speak about the relation of cybersecurity as it applies to social science but it also explains the relation of political science. The article mentioned that there have been cyber related attacks that targeted the political system, high ranking individuals, and corporations of a country.
The article relates to the class because in this course through the modules we have learned that education is powerful and can help with our force in society. By learning about the social sciences and applying it to your cybersecurity job in different situations in the future can reduce the risk of victimization, help people be safer in the cyberspace atmosphere, eligible to have different career choices, and learn how to stop cyber offending.
This topic relates to the challenges, concerns, and contributions of marginalized groups because not everyone is educated on the topic of cyber security and what you do not know can eventually hurt you. People that have limited or no knowledge can be at risk to be victimized. This is of course a concern of many and in order to combat this, we as a community need to be proactive in explaining and educating others on the dangers of cyber threats.
The article provides some insight into how education is important and can be of valuable use in the future whether your using the education for your career or to be mindful and safe online. This article opened my eyes to the many impacts that cyber security can have on the sciences whether it relates to crime or how we act.
