End-of-term reflection

One of the most valuable things I learned in this class was how the innate and adaptive immune systems work together to protect the body from infection. As a Biomedical Sciences student on the pre-med track, this helped me connect concepts from microbiology and pathophysiology by giving me a better understanding of how the body responds to bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. Learning about immune cells, antibodies, and inflammation also helped me better understand why certain diseases develop and how vaccines and immunotherapies work. This course showed me that immunology is the foundation of many areas of medicine and research. It has strengthened my critical thinking skills and given me a deeper appreciation for the role of the immune system in maintaining human health.
