Hacking Humans (DNA data)

on
Personally, I do not believe that it is worth it due to the lifelong risk of exposing the DNA data.
Although it may have great benefits, DNA data cannot be changed like a password. This means
that if the data were too be breached and leaked, there is no way to change it and the person
whose data got breached will have to live with their data being out there for the rest of their
lives. I would not be surprised if genetic discrimination were to arise of the wrong kind of
people were to have access to people DNA data. There is already lots of discrimination in the
work force when employers are looking for people to hire. Having access to people DNA data
would make it even harder for some people to find jobs. Being able to see people DNA and
judge them off of it before you see them or speak to them is not ok. DNA does not equivalate to
how hard or honest of a worker someone is. I think knowing about the permanent nature of the
biological data changes things a lot because it makes DNA data much more sensitive. Because
you can’t change your DNA like you can change a password, it makes it much more important
to keep that information extra secure and do anything you can to keep it from getting leaked.
Having your DNA data is something that people will have to live with their entire lives because
you can’t change it.
