Purpose of the Assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student with the opportunity to create a power point presentation that focuses on the Future of Nursing and the significant role nursing leadership has in improving nursing and creating the best healthcare environments in the future. Personal thoughts and ideas relating to their image of a nurse leader and their role in addressing leadership challenges are depicted in the presentation.
Student Approach to the Assignment: In the approach to this assignment I wanted to make sure that I supported my group members well by contributing heavily in the section I’d volunteered for. This meant diving into leadership at the bedside and what that looks like, so I used this as an opportunity to communicate with the intentions of what kind of leader I’d like to be.
Reason for the Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio: The reason I included this assignment in my portfolio is because it demonstrates the way leadership has a role in all areas of our nursing practice, and even if you’re not a leader among the other nurses, our job automatically makes us leaders in the community and in the care setting.

-As a leader at the bedside it’s our job as nurses to delegate tasks, and in that delegation we have to make sure that the person we delegate to is within their scope, and be responsible for the findings or consequences of that delegation. Being a leader at the bedside means being trustworthy and accountable.
24. Differentiates between descriptive nursing literature and published reports of nursing research. (Domain 4) (4.2)
-This assignment helped me see that descriptive nursing literature talks about nursing, theories, best practices etc, but published research tests those theories through studies. So while I discuss Jean Watsons theories, thats descriptive nursing literature. The research we do backs up our evidence based practice, like how we know that patients benefit from interprofessional collaboration like I pointed out.

-As we collaborated on this assignment we all used a variety of resources to evaluate how best to care for patients as future nurses.
