My Parallel Plan

I completed the MyMajors Quiz and my top result was Nursing, then Dental Hygiene, and Nuclear Medicine Technology. My parallel major however is Public Health with a minor in Addiction Treatment and Prevention. I chose this because it still gives me a chance to work in a health care field with a center for people. This interests me because with this degree you can work in multiple environments and have multiple different jobs, this keeps it interesting.

Some facts about this major is you can go anywhere with it. If I were to pursue it, I would have a concentration in Substance Abuse Reduction/Prevention. With a career in this field one can reach over crowds to asses the needs of the public. It also has many public programs to get involved in, research programs and diverse audiences.

A degree in Public Health can lead to a career as a Healthcare Administrator. There is a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and it supports a clinic, department, or group of physicians by directing and coordination of health services. From there they improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services. Healthcare administrators work in hospitals, nursing homes, and ambulatory health services or clinics. To learn more about this, I could intern at my local hospital or shadow at my local health clinic.
