An Effective Reflection Is
Going from a high school Spanish class to college Spanish class was a challenge. When I took Spanish 101 is was still struggling. I felt as though my classmates of Spanish 102 was way ahead of me. I felt like I didn’t know how to read in Spanish, comprehend the language, or understand the language. When I was in that class for the first couple of months I understood better. This class has taught me how to pronounce the words, and I can even carry on a conversation with someone who speaks Spanish.
Exploring Culture
The hispanic culture is so different than the black culture. It was difficult, but also easy to understand. I loved learning about it though. It’s very interesting. Here’s a example of some exploring of culture I did.

It is still crazy to me that we could live in the same world as people of different races and everything be so different. It was hard for me to understand it at first. Learning about the hispanic culture made me rethink stuff. These assignments were my favorite every unit.I loved getting towards the end so I could learn something new about the culture I want to learn about so bad.
Engaging in Communities
Engaging in communities could be done for many different reasons. I also think it is important for people to engage in the communities and especially if its your culture.
Interpersonal Communication
During we given two assignments where we had to speak with someone who fluently spoke Spanish, and it was for a grade. Although I was unable to perform in the first assignment, I didn’t participate in the second one and here’s the link.
I was late to to my appointment which I would never do that again. This was really not a hard experience it actually made me think I knew what I was talking about a little bit more. I did it stuck on the word “Arroz”, but only because it sounds different then what it is spelled.
Presentational Speaking
One speaking assignments we had to do was tell your audience about your family. I recorded myself talking about the members of my family, and explaining their personalities.
The challenges I faced during this assignment was remembering to change the ending for hermano and hermana. Other than that, this was very easy I got a 92/100 on this assignment. I was very proud of myself.
Presentational Writing
One of the first assignments we did was a writing assignment. Here it is below.
This assignment was basically talking about a sport that you like or activity you like doing. I chose cheerleading because I love doing that the most. It was hard for me to figure out what cheerleading even was in Spanish, but I figured it out because Mrs. Padilla helped me.
Interpretive Listening
We had a lot of videos on LingroLearning for each unit. Those videos gave us some extra information and also taught us how to pronounce the words. It also helped us out.
These listening videos were very helpful. Hearing how they pronounce words made it easier for my to pronounce them. Trying to pronouce the words in spanish by myself was very hard. I just had to continue to listen to the videos though, and it helped.
Interpretive Reading
It was a lot of readings we did within the class. Our professor made sure we knew what we had to. These readings helped me and my classmates understand everything a lot better.

This reading actually helped me personally because at the time I was stressing over school work. I really just wanted to do my best and pass my classes, but I was stressing over it. It gave me some recommendations and it also showed me the symptoms of stressing. With each assignment I had slowly but surely started to just look at words in Spanish and understand them. This class has helped me a lot.
