Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society
As a freshman at Old Dominion University, I had to take a course called CYSE200 and I am so happy I took this course because it taught me a lot of useful information. I wouldn’t have learned this information if it wasn’t for my wonderful professor, Professor Charlie Kirkpatrick. He taught our class how to do proper business writing skills in our write-ups and be profession. Below, I will post three assignments that I have completed within his class.
Write-up: The Human Factor in Cybersecurity
Assignment Details: During this week’s reading, you’ve been exposed to different points of view regarding human contribution to cyber threats. Now, put on your Chief Information Security Officer hat. Realizing that you have a limited budget (the amount is unimportant), how would you balance the tradeoff of training and additional cybersecurity technology? That is, how would you allocate your limited funds? Explain your reasoning. (The Human Factor in Cybersecurity)
Write-up: AI Assignment: Understanding the9 Differences between the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1 and 2.0
Assignment Details: In this assignment, you will go to your favorite AI tool, Chat GPT, Gemini, CoPilot, or others, and examine the differences between the previous 1.1 version of the NIST Cybersecurity FrameworkLinks to an external site. and the latest 2.0 release. This exercise requires you to conduct external research as to why NIST thought these enhancements to such a widely popular framework were necessary. SUGGESTED PROMPT (You can modify if you like) I need a one-page synopsis of the differences between the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1 and 2.0 (AI Assignment: Understanding the Differences between the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1 and 2.0).
Write-up: SCADA Systems
Assignment Details: In this write-up you will use the SCADA SystemsLinks to an external site. article, along with your own research, to explain the vulnerabilities associated with critical infrastructure systems, and the role SCADA applications play in mitigating these risks. (SCADA Systems)
In the write-up assignment that I shared, I received 90%-100% on them. In each write-up I contributed research, my input, and the information my professor taught us in class into these writing. From the beginning all the way to the end of fall semester, I have learned so much information that will help me in whatever career field I decide to pursue after Old Dominion University. I am glad I had the opportunity to take this course, and I would definitely take this class again if Professor Charlie Kirkpatrick was teaching because he made me think of things I wouldn’t have thought about before.
