Cybersecurity is often viewed as a technical field; however, it has a deeply multidisciplinary. In CYSE 201S Cybersecurity and the Social Sciences it talks about the social, political, legal, criminological, and economic dimensions of cybersecurity through a social science framework. We learned about the human-factors approaches to understanding cyber threats and the social forces that contribute to incidents. In this class, it also explores how various social science disciplines, for example psychology, political science, criminology, economics, and sociology to get a better study on cybersecurity.

In CYSE201S, we had to write two review articles that was related to the social science cybersecurity studies. Each article had to describe the study’s research question, hypothesis, IV, and DV, describe the types of research methods used, describe the types of data and analysis done, how this concept relates to the topics we talked about in class, and other things that we had to add in our article. I proved my two review articles above.

In this assignment, my group and I had to create and present on topic that was connected cybersecurity with a social science theme. Our goal was to explore how cybersecurity affected and was influenced by societal factors such as the human behaviors, privacy, ethics, and social policies. My group and I picked the topic cyberbullying and online harassment. We examine the role of cybersecurity that address cyberbullying and online harassment then we discuss the psychological, social and legal aspect of the issues. I proved my presentation above.

In this assignment, I had to pick a career that was related to cybersecurity and create a two-page paper that examines how professional in this field relies on social science research and social science principles in this field. In my career research paper, I picked a Digital Forensic Analyst, and I had to tie in the key concepts from the lecture that applied and demonstrated to the career. I also had to talk about the career interacts with marginalized groups and the society at large. Above I have provided my career paper.
