What we’ve all been waiting for…SPRING BREAK!

Hey everyone! March 9th is the official start of Spring Break ’19. Or for some of you, you might be planning to start you vacation a little early and not attend class on Friday, March 8th. Here’s a little tip from a fellow peer…go to class on Friday because some of the teachers are giving extra credit–whether that be a hint for your upcoming exam or extra attendance/clicker points (which is what my professor is doing). I know that you all want to get a jump start on your break but an hour class isn’t going to put a huge dent in your plans.

So…

What’s everyone doing for spring break this year? Any fun plans? Hopefully you guys can get somewhere warm for the week because temperatures here in Norfolk have definitely not been ideal for a beach day. It’s super important that you guys ENJOY your spring break. Whether you spend it with friends, family or by yourself, take some time to relax because this is your break before the home-stretch of the school year.

With that being said…

It is important that you also set aside some time during the latter of your break to make sure that you are prepared to come back to school and finish the school year strong.

I’ve compiled a Spring Break Checklist for you all of some “to-do’s” over spring break:

  1. Make sure you are updated on all of your coursework
  2. Make sure you have scheduled a meeting with your academic adviser if you haven’t already done so
  3. Check to see if you have any Holds on your account
    1. This is important because registration is coming up, if you have holds on your account you will be unable to register for the following semester
  4. Add your Fall’19 class schedule to you Le Online & DegreeWorks
    1. This is important because preregistration for Fall ’19 classes runs from April 1st-5th and if your classes/times are already planned out it makes the registration process much quicker
  5. Know what your time ticket is for preregistration
    1. Your time ticket will show the earliest day and time you may register for classes
  6. Think ahead & Know when your finals are
    1. Check your class’ syllabus as well as https://www.odu.edu/academics/calendar/exams/spring to make sure that you know when all of your finals are
  7. Apply for Summer Internships/Summer Jobs if you haven’t already
  8. Be Safe & Smart if you go on a Spring Break Vacation
  9. Do something for yourself–get your nails done, get a massage, go to the beach, etc.
    1. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

Spring break is definitely mean’t to be a fun time where you can get away from school. Let’s be real, you were just in school for 9 tiring weeks, be proud of yourself for all that hard work! However it is important to also use Spring break as a way to regroup before coming back to school. If you are prepared prior to coming back to campus you are going to make the last half of the semester a lot easier for yourself. Just think about it!
