Busra Bocekli obtained her bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Architecture, double majors at Antalya Bilim University, Turkey, from 2013 to 2019. Before joining Wang’s research group in the Spring of 2023 as a Ph.D. student, Busra was an engineer in the construction industry in Istanbul, Turkey.
Research: Ground motion spatial correlation, DYFI intensity.

Sara Tahajomi holds a master’s degree in Geotechnical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Science and Culture, Iran. Before joining Wang’s research group in the Spring of 2023 as a Ph.D. student, Sara’s research was estimating the impact of land subsidence on the foundation of infrastructures.
Research: Probabilistic-based landslide hazard analysis.

Pema Lama holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University, Texas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. In 2022, Pema earned a Graduate Certificate in Underground Construction and Tunneling from the Colorado School of Mines. Currently, Pema is pursuing a part-time Ph.D. in Wang’s research group while working full-time in the underground and tunneling industry.
Research: Seismic hazard assessment for distributed underground tunnels.
Alumni

Revanth Renukunta was a high school student attending the Math and Science Academy at Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, who joined Wang’s research group as an intern from March 2023 to March 2024, working on the DYFI intensity study for the 2011 Mineral Virginia Earthquake.
Next Position: Undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in environmental studies with a concentration in sustainability and management.
