Hey there once again, this page will focus on what all I have learned through Spanish101F with professor Maria Padilla. I have learned a lot in this class; first and foremost I learned basic Spanish which will help guide me through Spanish102F. On top of that, I have learned a lot about communication skills and why they are important. This brings me to the topic of overcoming obstacles. The number 1 obstacle that I, along with almost if not every single one of my fellow classmates, was challenged with was communication. With school now being primarily online, professors have undoubtedly shifted their focus on quantity versus quality. This means that professors focus more on how many assignments the students can get done rather than giving out a reasonable amount of work that would actually benefit us and help up learn the material properly instead of essentially being forced to cram from day one. This would lead to a very noticeable decline in communication between the students and professors. With the professor not responding to about 9/10 of my (and other classmates) emails, and the small responses not answering all the questions/ answering them fully, communication was thrown off the table. I along with the majority of the classmates I had, never knew when or what was due. However, the professor would sometimes respond to one of us when several of us had emailed her, and that one person would then share that information with the rest of us. This showed me that communication can be decent even through these harsh covid-19 days. With that being said, we were given more than reasonable opportunity to learn Spanish through several different mediums. These mediums include but are not limited to: class time, oral evaluations, compositions, and modules. I learned the most through the modules and I am grateful for those modules. I am unsure as to how I will take what I learned in this course and apply it to my life because as previously mentioned on the home page, I am a music education major and the intent of that degree is to teach music to English speaking students in America. I have no intent on ever visiting a Spanish speaking country in my life so I honestly have no clue where I will apply this knowledge. However, I will be sure to find a way.

Above is a screenshot of the modules page students were required to complete. As you may see, there were a whopping 324 assignments to be completed for this 101 rated course. Now you may be asking yourself, 324 assignments not including exams, tests, oral evaluations, and more? My answer would be yes, I do understand that this is a 101 course, so why not have upwards of 400 total assignments. As you can see, I was only able to keep up and turn in 243 our of those 324 and earn a 70.1 average for the modules. This is simply due to the fact that I take 9 classes on top of this 101 course, some of those being 300+, and simply did not have the free time to complete all of these assignments.
