With the fast growth of technology affecting our day to day lives, comes with both benefits and downsides. The benefits provide efficiency, access to unlimited data sources, and much more that makes human lives’ easier. The downsides, however, exposes more of our lives to threats wanting to cause harm. Cybersecurity is the protection of networked system and applications against threat that could originate from inside of an organization or outside. I have been interested in learning more about cybersecurity in order to protect myself and others. To learn more about what to be cautious of online when every person and every app, site, phone, and other techs collect data about you. Career-wise cybersecurity is a growing field with a high demand for workers and is a field that can be applied to many different industries. The highest demand for cybersecurity workers is fields that deal with a high volume of consumer data, such as finance, and health care. This again brings up why I am interested in learning more about cybersecurity. I have been personally exposed to attempted cyber attacks, through scam calls, texts, and emails. Apps and websites I have used have also admitted to leaking/losing my and others important data to outside organizations whether by selling or being attacked for the data. This is a reason why cybersecurity technology is interesting to me. I would love to learn how these outside threats are able to target our data and how to protect myself from these threats.
