Artifact 5

The last artifact, and my favorite was Module 10. It forced me to step out of my comfort zone (however, this is very much my zone as I do this frequently.) I was told to avoid social norms and I did just that, it made it better because I wasn’t home when it happened. As a frequent visitor of Las Vegas, I knew what to expect when people would watch me dance down the strip in public with no music playing. i found it fun to be weird and see people’s reactions, it was almost like inventing another character of myself and letting her live out face paced child that I’m too old to show now. You do get ignored a lot, but for those who stare, it’s not judgmental, you sometimes get cheered on or accompanied in dance, which felt very normal there. I’ve done all that here, and my friends shake their heads, and other people don’t understand, however, I still don’t care. I enjoy social experiments because it gives me a chance to use this craft in so many scenarios and prepare me for my career.

Module 8 was quite fun for me due to knowing small things about each culture as I was born in New York and still spend a lot of time up there seeing people from all walks of life. In a way, its very stereotypical and depicted as such through TV shows like South Park and Family guy when it comes to talking about each of these races. As someone who has witnessed a lot of them, they’re true. I found this fun because of the knowledge I had going into it, and I could relate it to cliques in high school to give better understanding as to how they’re each seen to the world. It gives better insight to each culture without ruining the reputation of it.

Module 12 was fun because I got to judge the power of aggression from a list of 25 scenarios. Growing up, I only saw (physical) violence on TV, as I was fortunate enough to not have seen it with anyone in my family. I knew what anger looked like, and from a young age I knew how to gauge emotions and pick up on social cues of people whether it be from TV or in real life and I always knew how far was too far. In the scenarios in question, I tried to put myself in those situations as the culprit, victim, or bystander depending on each. I found it interesting how I would personally react to each scenario and how I would feel and what I would consider to be aggressive or not.

Module 11 Archive was fun because it allowed me to analyze people that are closest to me. I was able to think of the times I’ve spent with the people initialed and judge them on how they react to situations as well as their overall personality. I found it interesting and honest how I judged them as I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about them and judging more of their outward character towards things and other people rather than towards me.

Artifact 1

Module 4 Archive was very interesting in that it gave us the ability to understand representative heuristics with the media. Much like the unfortunate circumstances of today where we’re all quarantined due due the Coronavirus, we’re using social media and the news to gauge how we should be preparing for this pandemic and what measures to take to ensure we’re all safe. Similar to taking a story and running with it, the media is updating us (almost hourly) on the mass effect this has on the world-most of which are the negative aftermaths rather than the positive ones and people are in a frenzy. This was the point of this module and explaining the way the media pumps us full of information.
