I have taken beginning Spanish II online asynchronous with professor Mitchell. This course has provided me more knowledge of how the language is structured. Along my journey of learning a completely new language, I was exposed to modern cultural challenges across Latin American countries. I was tested on my knowledge of recognizing words and phrases when reading articles. I am not fluent nor an expert communicator, but I am proficient of speaking a few words and having the ability to hold a simple conversation. I am also proficient of recognizing the main topic in Spanish articles and verbal conversations. This skills are crucial when traveling abroad in Spanish speaking countries. It will allow me to figure my own way by reading signs, restaurant menus, and communicating my necessary needs to others. This ability to recognize Spanish goes a long way to fulfilling a cultural appreciation for the language. As the world becomes more connected by social media, The recognition of Spanish words will yield benefits to connect closer to others.
