Computers have certainly improved the world around us to an unbelievable extent, and ultimately they have enabled humans to be able to acquire information that could never be obtained otherwise; Astronomy, media related news at every level (local, national, and international). Despite all of this however, One question that is becoming more and more debatable is are computer in fact making the world safer or doing the opposite? Computers have started be designed with the direct intention to protect people and their belongings. Banks have been around for a very long time now and one increasing concern for banks was coming up with a way to protect the finances of their customers. Well one way it has been done was through the creation of two factor authentication for mobile devices and the creation of debit/credit cards which are kept track of by computers and databases. Another way computers have mad our world safer is the increased amount of ways to communicate, rather than physically meeting up with people to discuss trivial matters, you can simply make a quick voice call or, thanks to current technology, you can even see that individual. One final way computers has made the world safer even though there are many more, is the fact that you can acquire information with ease now, there’s no need to go overseas to get geographical information there are computer controlled satellites that can do that for you, ever heard of google earth? Now while there are so many safety advantages that computers bring to the world there are many safety conflicts that computers bring to the world. Computers store all types of information from financial and medical information. Computers have aided criminals and terrorist with the ability to cause catastrophe to others through weapons of Mass Destruction and other lethal artillery. Computers are equipped with the means of preventing hacking from occurring but just the simple fact that computers store valuable information makes them a target for hackers in the first place. In addition to this computers can be used to frame others and corrupt rules and policies. For example, creating fake identities and other forms of certifications. Now Cybersecurity specialists are coming up with ways to attempt to make computers safer for people as well as networks they’re connected to. One key way engineers can do this is through Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, a hired hacker is assigned to intentionally hack and analyze the networks to exploit vulnerabilities in a network so the organization can upgrade and rid themselves of weaknesses. Keep in mind that this is all perfectly unless a contract clause is violated by the hacker. But the hacker is ultimately hired to be beneficial to the organization and is normally employed by another corporation to do this job for other, they are not one man business entities.
