SCADA Systems and the Security of Critical Infrastructure
Critical infrastructure systems like water treatment plants, electric grids, and gas pipelines are essential to everyday life. These systems rely heavily on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) to keep things running smoothly. As suggested in a report by the GAO, companies need to regularly update these systems, train staff on cybersecurity, and limit who has access. SCADA alone can’t solve everything, but with the right protections in place, it plays a key role in keeping critical infrastructure safe.
