LeADERS: Entrepreneurship Development Through CYSE 494
CYSE 494, Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity, played a big role in helping me grow as an entrepreneur by showing how technical knowledge can be made into real world solutions. The course focused on innovation and problem solving, allowing students to think beyond traditional career paths and explore how cybersecurity skills can be used to create programs or products that address real needs.
Through this course, I learned how entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, but about identifying problems and developing practical solutions. By working on projects guided my professor Dr. Rob Batchelder jr., I was able to connect academic knowledge with real world applications. This experience helped with my ability to think creatively, plan strategically, and approach cybersecurity challenges from a solution oriented mindset.
CYSE 494 also focused on collaboration and initiative. By working independently or as part of a group, the process of developing an idea into something actionable required leadership, adaptability, and persistence. These are key traits of successful entrepreneurs, especially in a field like cybersecurity where innovation is necessary to keep up with evolving threats.
Overall, this course helped me see how my technical background can extend beyond traditional roles and into entrepreneurial opportunities. It helped with the idea that cybersecurity professionals can be innovators who create solutions, drive change, and contribute to meaningful advancements in technology and society.
