Interview a Health Professional

For my summary of the interview, the man I interviewed was Dr. David Reid. Dr. David is a pharmacist that works in the Walgreens medicine department. To be pharmacist, you need to take a four year period that would major in something like biology or chemistry. Then another couple years to get the master’s degree, then another four years in medical school to earn the doctorate’s degree. What inspired Dr. David’s desire to get into the pharmacy field was when he got in a car accident and was given varieties of medicine and the interactions he had with the people that distributed it to him, he wanted those same interactions with other people which influenced him. The path that he took was the biology route at ODU and then went to medical school. His basic roles are to oversee the medicine given to patients, prescribe medicine, and offer safe lifestyles for their future with medicine. He did describe the environment as climate friendly because of the amount of procedures to ensure the safety of both the patients and the doctors working there. The sustainable practices taken are practices to make sure the correct amount of medicine given and the right medicine given. Any other recommendations that could be given is having practices for all positions in the department to put in equal commitment to make sure everyone’s job is smooth. The most rewarding part of his job was the interactions and relationships he developed with the patients. The most challenging part is how sometimes the people in his group would not do their part and it would throw off everyone else’s rhythm. The advice he would give is to stay dedicated when going into the healthcare field because of the amount of education needed to pursue anything in the science field.
