I grew up in an era where all your information was in the library or if your parents had jobs, you could afford your own personal set of encyclopedias. So, when the first computer was sold and the internet was created, I was hooked. Since the purchase of my first computer, I’ve always be fascinated by the inner working of the cyber world. I was so amazed to see the different types of information you could obtain, and it seemed to be endless. Years later, the web as evolved from a fun entertaining space to visit, to a maze of obstacles which could cause you emotional and financial mishaps if you’re not careful. Once I started taking courses in school and saw how you could find out someone’s password without them telling you, I knew cybersecurity was for me. Another reason that I’m interested in cybersecurity is that every day there’s crimes being committed on the internet, and I would like myself educated because everything we do today involves some sort of cyber awareness. Cybercrime, Game Studies, Design/Technology, Finance, Information Systems and Technology are the four majors that I selected that are related to cybersecurity.
Cybercrime-To start off with cybercrime is the key component that affects them all
Psychology– Is the understanding of why the cybercrime was committed.
Design/Technology – In this aspect, the military wouldn’t want their secret information to get into the wrong hands.
Finance – Since everything has become electronic, cybersecurity is a key focus in this major. Financial or corporate companies wouldn’t want their money stolen
Information Systems and Technology– Preventing outside entities from tacking over your system
The reason I chose these four is because in one way or another, they all tie into each other. Since the advancement of the internet, criminals have invented new ways to commit crimes
