Criminal Justice and Cyber crime have major connections to one another. There is a lot of crime that takes place on internet. Some of the crime that we see on the internet include things like Phishing, cyber pornography, ransomware and malware attacks. If someone is found to have committed one of these crimes, they will be prosecuted by the criminal justice system. Criminal Justice and Cyber Crime will continue to grow more connected being that new technology is constantly being developed, which will allow room for more crime to take place on the internet.
Cyber Crime and criminal justice are usually discussed as a separate entity but the crimes are of the same magnitude. An example of this is if a robber were to break into a bank and steal all of the banks money which is comparable to a cyber criminal gang hacking into a businesses systems and steal all of their financial data. The only difference between the two is the cyber criminals are not stealing in a physical or traditional way.
Ultimately all criminals, whether done online or in the traditional way, all have the same end goal. The goal is to deceive people in order to gain, illegally for themselves.
As I mentioned earlier as time continues to go on and technology becomes more prevalent in society, cyber crime an criminal justice will continue to overlap. This is why those who are in the criminal justice field should also have some knowledge on internet crimes and be educated on that because crime online will just continue to grow.
