Hello! If you do not already know, my name is Selasi Laryea. I am known to be a loyal and determined individual. My goal is to become successful, so I am willing to face this journey no matter the obstacles I will face. My family has taught me that no matter how low things get, there is always a way to build it back up and reach higher levels than you ever expected. My sister and I are born to immigrants who both came from Ghana. From them, I learned that success is all in the mind and what you put in is what you get out.

I attend Old Dominion University and I am currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity. Old Dominion has its reputation for being a diverse and inclusive school. I met so many people from different places with all sorts of backgrounds. I have played on the men’s club soccer team since my freshman year. This year, I joined a few clubs including Student Government Association (SGA), Student Activity Council (SAC), and African Student Association (ASA). These organizations provided me with leadership, volunteering, and great networking. During my freetime, I like to cook, go out with friends, and go to the recreational center.

I am very excited to experience all the new skills I will learn during the Cybersecurity program and I hope to use the skills I learn to eventually work as an IT specialist or Intelligence Analyst. With my determination, I can turn my dreams into reality!
