As shown in the video we can see that the media greatly influences our understanding and perspective of cybersecurity. Most people who did not pursue cybersecurity, IT or even unethical hacking would not know right from wrong when it came to the correct terminology and how things actually worked in the world of cybersecurity. In movies, you hear a bunch of terminology that sounds super special and specific as well as sounding scarier than it is. While hacking can be a rough item to go through, it does not invoke fear like it is shown in the movies in minor scenarios. As far as the media goes such as daily news, we only hear about cybersecurity when something has gone terribly wrong. The only time cybersecurity is mentioned via the news is usually when there’s been a large breach of a big company that impacts many people. As a whole cybersecurity is a huge field that isn’t all security breaches and worlds that will collapse on a timer if the system isn’t “shut down” like in most action movies.
