Discussion Board: Protecting Availability – As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of a publicly traded company I would set up backup systems in different locations so that if one fails, another can take over. I would implement protection against cyberattacks, such as Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, which would help prevent hackers from overwhelming the company’s systems. I would make sure there’s regular data backups and a disaster recovery plan, that way lost data can be restored quickly if something goes wrong. I would make sure the company uses cloud services with automatic backup options to improve reliability. I would ensure constant monitoring through security systems to help detect and stop threats before they cause problems. I would keep software updated and fix security weaknesses to prevent hackers from taking advantage of outdated systems. There would be strict access controls in place to make sure only authorized people can access critical systems. Additionally, industry security standards would be followed to help the company stay compliant with regulations and maintain best practices. By using these protections, the company can keep systems running smoothly, reduce downtime, and ensure strong security.
Discussion Board: Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing – Some possible ethical considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing are uncertainty about the risks associated with it, inequality, misuse, and accessibility issues. It is possible for CRISPR Gene Editing to have adverse outcomes such as mutations which could lead to new health problems or diseases. Mistakes could happen and long term effects of CRISPR Gene Editing is not fully understood yet. If only a portion of people use CRISPR Gene Editing, but other people do not, it could cause an unintentional divide between “edited” and “unedited” people; Which in turn could cause inequality. People would probably use CRISPR Gene Editing to select desired traits (which may be more valued), and that could lead to discrimination against unedited people. Furthermore, if CRISPR Gene Editing was to become available for universal use, would everyone be able to access and afford it? I don’t think so. Not even everyone in this day and age can afford the current healthcare services that are available. In my opinion, CRISPR Gene Editing should not be used since the safety aspect of it is not fully understood. The potential side effects are not completely clear, and I wouldn’t want people to end up facing detrimental consequences.
Discussion Board: Opportunities for Workplace Deviance – Cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace deviance since confidential data (for both employees and customers) is usually stored digitally, so employees can more easily find ways to access it for unapproved reasons such as fraud or identity theft. Additionally it creates opportunities for inappropriate communication and/or digital harassment between employees.
