| I am currently a rising senior at Old Dominion University majoring in Biology with a pre-med concentration. My hopes after undergraduate school are to attend medical school and complete a neurosurgical resident program. I am also a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). |
EXPERIENCE
| OCTOBER 2020 RESEARCH REVIEW ARTICLE, NEUROTECHNOLOGY Summary of a research article, “Use of Cannabidiol for the Treatment of Anxiety: A Short Synthesis of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Evidence”. Students in the neurotechnology class were tasked with reviewing a research article of choice regarding the topic of any neurological disorder. APRIL 2021 MOCK RESEARCH REPORT, INTRODUCTION TO TECHNICAL & SCIENTIFIC WRITING Mock research report, “Diagnosis & Treatment of Endometriosis”. Students were tasked with spending four months researching a topic of choice, and completing a research essay, research review article, research proposal, research presentation, progress report, and mock research report. NOVEMBER 2021 SCIENTIFIC LITERARY ESSAY, CELL BIOLOGY Scientific literary essay composed on the topic of marine yeasts. Students were tasked with writing an essay on a marine yeasts and describe the different genus types, how they reproduce, where they are found, and their compostion. DECEMBER 2022 NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER RESEARCH PROJECT, NEUROANATOMY Research project on traumatic brain injuries. Students were tasked with researching a neurological disorder of choice. Presentations included introducing the disease, discuss its prevalence, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and diagnosis/treatment. JULY 2020 – PRESENT MEDICAL ASSISTANT (SCRIBE), BLOCK FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC Greet patients, schedule patients, ensure x-ray machine is operating, take patient health history, manage patient medical records of any x-rays, MRI’s, personal injury cases, and workers compensation cases, document and re-evaluate patient complaints to determine diagnoses accordingly with doctor approval, inform patients of doctors’ recommendations for at-home care, verify benefits with patients’ insurance providers, restock office supplies, maintain cleanliness in patient rooms. |
