Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

There are multiple reasons as to why I decided to get into cybersecurity, although, I’ll admit that cybersecurity was not my first choice. The way things works and the amazing things we can do with engineering always fascinated me, so around the 6th grade, I decided engineering is what I wanted to do with my life. All the way into the 12th grade, I took as many engineering classes as I could, even joining the Governors STEM Academy at Landstown High School (In hindsight, I should have gone to Ocean Lakes). In my senior year of high school, however, I took AP Physics C: Mechanics… this was the turning point for me. I did not enjoy AP Physics C: Mechanics, even though I found gen. physics easy and relatively entertaining. I ended up with an A in AP Physics, but I knew that physics (and spreadsheets) is not what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So, I went and found something else to do. I took a computer science course in 11th grade that I enjoyed and just looked deeper at everything computer science related. I ended up on cybersecurity for multiple reasons: It pays well, a job is pretty much guaranteed, I had some experience with cybersecurity, and I figured it’d be something cool that I enjoy. While it might be shallow for money to be my main driving factor, a jobs a job and I wouldn’t do a job if I didn’t get paid. Of course, I could have chosen to be a doctor or surgeon if money was my main goal, but I chose cybersecurity because it paid well on top of being something that I enjoyed. Cybersecurity will become an increasingly important part of society as the world continues to grow more technologically advanced and dependent.
