One thing that I learned in this course that has made an impact on connecting other coursework and that I’m certain it’ll help me with future courses would be cancer-causing mutations. I’ve always been fuzzy on this topic, so I’m greatly appreciative to have had the opportunity to learn further about it. As dangerous as cancer is, it’s quite the fascinating entity to encounter. I have learned some specifics as to how disruptions of mutations can lead to cancer and how it affects genes, animo acid sequences, and overall reproduction of cells. What really interested me was how mutations don’t automatically target cancer-causing genes but instead occur in random spots of the genome. As a student that aspires to become an embryologist, I find this information, as well as all of the coursework of Cell Biology (BIOL 293) to be absolutely relevant to my future studies.
