I am interested in cybersecurity technology due to my passion for helping people combined with my enjoyment of computers and my pursuit of knowledge. All of my life has, in some fashion, been dedicated to assisting people from various backgrounds live safer and happier lives. I have been a local 911 dispatcher and, in the U.S. Navy, the equivalent of a civilian Human Resources Manager. These areas had me engrossed in assisting people who were, in some manner, involved in crimes of all types. I found that my compassion helped me to find ways to correct situations in which people felt they were trapped. I think that Cybersecurity fits that persona by helping to protect people from crimes while maintaining a balance with personal freedoms. Through this program, I can hold to my passion of aiding others by being proactive in crime prevention while also maintaining that Human Resources balance.

Also, I enjoy anything that involves computers. Technology has always helped me express myself or helped me to refocus when I get lost. I first professionally learned the detailed working of computers as a teenager and, I’ve been tinkering with them since that time. I enjoy working with or on computers regardless of how hard a task might seem. Cybersecurity fits into this hobby in the aspect of programming and online activities. The entirety of courses will give me the ability to process each of my online actions and prevent me from becoming a victim.

When all is said and done, I always enjoy the pursuit of knowledge. This type of field keeps me learning new things at every turn. The technology moves faster than I can so there is always something new and interesting for me to research. Education helps me to become a better person. I can apply the new knowledge gained to my volunteer work to help people around me live better lives. Knowledge is the best thing to have in any situation. With an abundance of knowledge, I can do anything with what I have at hand and this course of study will give me more knowledge to put in my pocket for the future. I will always keep learning, especially when it comes to technology and how it can benefit society.
