Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Exploring Culture

Listening to music ,watching movies and reading Spanish literature helps me to explore different aspects of the language . No matter if its a hidden message , a historical event , or a life lesson , it helps me understand how traditions became and how Spanish natives carry themselves.

Exploring Spanish culture allows me to adapt to the differences in fluidity between spanish speaking countries and help me to develop some of the differences in each location. It also helps me to understand the language more , especially with someone uses slang terms. This also helps me to get culturally invloved , loving the culture and language more. It also helped me see the different view points of the world from cultural comparisons to different ideas on the same subject matter. For exmple , when discussing rap with my TalkAbroad partner , her idea was more surrounded around the idea of meaning where the rap I hear is for simple entertainment . It helped to see from a different outlook that I have been before.

Engaging in Communities

Engaging in the community lets you get involved with what’s happening around you . It also helps to impact the individuals in the community along with networking with the new connections you make . in the In English, give a brief description of the value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community.

Being an orientation leader has helped me to see how I affect my community around me , ultimately leaving a last impression on those who enter our community . How I represent our community and interact with its patrons can change the composttion and also increases the positive interactions and environment .

Interpersonal Communication

During the semester we practiced communication through answering questions and speaking with our classmates . Talk abroad, along with many other activities , gave me the opportunity during the semester to converse with Spanish speaking natives . This allowed me to engage in a conversation and understand different fluencies to the language .

ll

With these activities being planned and unplanned , it allowed us to dig deep in our knowledge for spanish and work our way through trying to communicate using only the spanish language. With activities such as Talk abroad we got to experience the language first hand to see how we , as a student , have developed throughout the semester. Along with going about my regular day communicating with individuals all around , it gives me the opportunity to grow , learn the language more . It also helps to push me to my greater capabilities of Spanish. In the class , we are encouraged to interact with eachother to develop a relationship to be able to ask eachother questions.

Presentational Speaking

This project show cases the ability to use the preterite and imperfect tense , while describing a trip I went to while I was younger with my family . I traveled to CancĂșn and had an had an exhuberent time , experiencing a new culture and the delicious foods .

Throughout the semester I was challenged to express myself using the vocabulary and units we were present . This encouraged me to research new information , Thand overcome the challenge of articulating what I want to say when forgetting something . As time passed by , so did the challenge Every excersize with our partner in class allowed us to strenghthen our skill . This allowed me to develop a better understanding of the construct of Spanish along with the tenses we learn . In the future I will lean on these principles to help me expand my knowledge of Spanish.

Presentational Writing

We have constructed many stories from the past and present with an intent to write each from different perspectives . This allows us to be able articulate our thought but storytell through written language , ultimately translating it into written word naratives .

With example of the in class written project we completed , this helped me to see where I could improve in my own work after recieving direct feedback . It also shows me how I could have presented my information differently . In these exercises my strength was getting the quantity , reaching the written requirements but I think it would benefit me if I made the information richer.

Interpretive Listening

In this video , we translated the dialogue to text messages . This helped us to understand how misunderstandings through conversation can form when conversating through text vs face to face . The listening exercises also aids us in hearing the pronunciation of the words and how accents affect how the word sounds , changing the emphasis.

The listening impelled me to listen more closely and take more interest in the language . In this activity , I realized I understood beginner Spanish speakers but could work on using my Spanish outside of class . This would help me overcome sounding ” choppy ” when speaking Spanish and help me to understand native speakers easier . Along with the class recordings , I pride myself in listening to my music in Spanish to decipher new words and phrases used through the language pretty common .

Interpretive Reading

During this semester using LingroHub, we visited various articles and readings where we interpreted the meanings . We analyzed the text to find new information to understand Spanish culture . Finita La gringa is a prime example of some of the works we examined .

These activities have allowed me to be able to understand the context of the story . It also helped me to learn the format of storytelling and gain additional information on topics such as immigration , history , tradition , etc. Reading also strengthened my fundamental skill of formulating paragraphs and understanding Spanish through written language . Although some readings are challenging , I continue to working through the things I didn’t don’t understand . The readings keep me interested and in hopes for new content to come .
