I think that cyber technology creates more opportunities for workplaces deviance because with everything being online can make it harder to catch people who harass, bully, or share personal information. If everything wasn’t online, I think it would be way easier to catch people that commit workplace crimes. Digital workplace can be impactful on business as employees can cause harm to business if they misuse the business equipment or network for their own personal gain. The pandemic in my opinion also have created a lot of opportunities for workplace deviance most companies give employees the opinion whether to work in person or work remotely due to mostly everybody had to work from home during that time. As technology continues to develop it’s not going to get any better, so companies are going to have to find a way to monitor their employees. What companies did in reaction to employees cyberloafing they install proxy servers to prevent programs from accessing resources like Internet Relay Chat, AOL Instant Messenger, or online gambling services. Also, they provide free or subsidized internet access for employees outside their working hours. Companies can keep on finding ways to minimize workplace deviance as technology keeps developing it gives them more resources they can use to prevent it. Employee cybercrime that companies can experience included data theft, insider trading, IT sabotage, identity theft, and phishing. This can cause companies a lot of money to repair the damages from these attacks. Workplace deviance can cause companies to lose trust in their employees and lead to them being let go as they have shown to be a potential threat to cause harm to the company. Training programs is needed for companies to get their employees the assistance they need to cope with stress and mental health to securing a better work environment.
