  1. It is great that this public library offers so much support to children and young adults. It sounds like a very welcoming place!

  2. It’s awesome that this public library is promoting learning languages online on their website and a literacy group to help with reading and English.

  3. The summer reading program finale sounds like a lot of fun and a huge success! It’s great that people are coming to the library to do it in person again—but it’s interesting to me that there’s no virtual programming through this library at all. Was that something the library did during the early days of COVID? If so, why didn’t they keep it going? Are there bandwidth issues (both in the wifi sense and in the sense of “job creep”) that make virtual programming especially difficult?

    1. They only did virtually during the pandemic. But when the state lifted the ban and we could see people in public again. They did away with the programming and went in person. That’s what the public wanted too.

  4. Hi Stephanie! It sounds like Campbell Public Library is a great place to be and work! It was interesting to read that it is attached to a school administration building. I wonder if that makes things tricky with sharing a building with the public schools. I loved hearing about the programming that Campbell Public Library is offering. Summer reading is such a great one to keep kids reading and minimize a reading loss while out of school. I found it encouraging to read in Rubin and Rubin (2020) that out of all public libraries, “95% offer summer reading programs for children” (Rubin & Rubin, 2020, p. 103). What a great way for libraries, schools, and families to team together in what’s best for kids!

    1. Yes, the summer reading program is a great success. The kids are enthusiastic about the program. The more they read the more prizes they earn and the prizes at the end of the program are pretty good too. I think that is what sparks the reading and plus most children there love to read.

  5. I love the Campbell County Public Library! I go there every now and then. I agree that their website is easy to navigate. I also like how the library is organized and decorated. It has a warm, cozy atmosphere. The librarians are nice and work hard to serve their community. The summer programs they have are amazing! The library provides something for everyone, children and adults. You are so lucky to work there!
