ATA Five
Assignment five taught me that different cultures certainly have different values. In Italy, people treat those with schizophrenia with much more kindness than people do in the United States. This assignment was relevant to me because I will be working with people who have psychological disorders. I believe this assignment taught me to further eliminate bias and to look at things from various angles. It is important to avoid labeling people because it effects the way they are treated.

ATA Three
Assignment three has been a favorite of mine thus far. This assignment was a huge eye opener as it put multiple things into a new perspective. I learned that although cultures vary around the world, there could always be an element of familiarity. I also learned that women around the world score higher in the areas of openness and agreeableness. This makes us perfect candidates for new things such as traveling to new and far places. This assignment made me realize that traveling abroad for a semester would not be as difficult as I initially thought. I am usually not a risk taker, but this assignment helped me to see that it is okay to take a jump and experience new things because it may not be as bad as imagined. To ease the fear of new things, it is helpful to find little things that remind you of home. Thanks to this assignment, I know that a culture shock may not be that severe and abroad may just remind me of home.
ATA Two
Assignment two was interesting and certainly right up my alley. The assignment required the student to read a PDF file about different values and their definitions. In addition to definitions, the article provided perspectives from non-Americans. After reading, the student was then asked to pick a value and reflect on it. Examples and a non-american viewpoint analysis were needed as well.
This assignment taught me that values can be extremely controversial. Different values have different meanings all over the world. I remember having foreign exchange students in a history class of mine. One student made a joke, and the two exchange students were offended. This assignment made me realize that values are delicate and have to be handled with care because everyone is different.
