I will be pursuing the dental hygiene major! I chose this major for multiple reasons, one being that I believe it would be amazing to be a person of color in the field. I also believe oral health is very important. I want to help raise awareness about it and in the future whenever someone leaves my chair, I want them to leave smiling and feeling confident. 

After graduating, I want to become a travel hygienist. I want to be able to learn more and perfect my craft so that eventually, I can go back to school and become a dentist. Patiently, one step at a time.

My first experience in the dental field is when I interned at my local pediatric dental office (above is a picture of me in my scrubs). This opportunity really opened my eyes to what goes on in offices and the roles that everyone plays. Even though I wasn’t hands on, they taught me the names of different instruments and their purposes. I also had the job of sterilizing the tools and packaging them. This was another contribution to why my knowledge has widened. I loved my job so much!
