Andriy Slynchuk has described eleven things Internet users do that may be illegal. Review what the author says and write a paragraph describing the five most serious violations and why you think those offenses are serious.

The author, Andriy Slynchuk, describes how often people commit illegal acts online without knowing. There are five acts that I consider to be the most serious violations and offenses from the article. The first one is collecting information on children, this violates the Children’s Online Protection Act that ensures the safety of children under 13, and children should always be the top priority when it comes to safety. The next one is faking your identity online, this can cause psychological harm to people who believe they are talking to people that they “know”, especially those in vulnerable mental states. The next act is bullying and trolling, like the previous one, this can cause emotional damage to victims, and needs to be taken seriously. Fourth on the list is sharing passwords, addresses and photos of others, this is a violation of an individuals privacy and can often place people in difficult positions. Lastly, on the most serious violations is making illegal searches on the internet, this leans more towards suspicious activity for most searches but the one that is inexcusable is the searching for child pornography which is a criminal offense. Overall these violations carry heavier consequences than the others because it has to do with causing harm to other people and minors or taking pleasure in doing so.
